Build developer-experience tooling and release systems within Benchling’s Platform team, helping engineering teams develop, test, package, and ship high-quality software rapidly. The role requires 4+ years of software engineering experience, web framework expertise, strong problem-solving, and effective cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities
- Build and implement tooling for efficient, frictionless development, testing, and production packaging.
- Design and develop release tooling that enables code changes to reach production within 10 minutes.
- Improve developer experience using qualitative and quantitative feedback.
- Implement feedback loops that integrate quality into software development workflows.
- Champion effective engineering and operational patterns across the Engineering organization.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to address engineering workflow challenges affecting developer happiness and productivity.
- Work with product managers, designers, and engineering peers to improve the software development experience.
- Help scale engineering tooling, best practices, processes, and hiring.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience.
- Product-first approach to building tools and software.
- Experience shipping code quickly with attention to real-world impact.
- Expertise with at least one web framework, preferably Node.js or Python.
- Strong problem-solving and feedback-iteration skills.
- Ownership of key product components.
- Empathy for users and curiosity about their challenges.
- Willingness to learn about life science.
- Clear and effective communication, especially in cross-functional settings.
Compensation and Benefits
- Flexible hybrid work arrangement with in-office collaboration expected 3 days per week: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
