Hardware Data Center Technician

Maintains, troubleshoots, qualifies, and deploys GPU-based server hardware in a data center environment. The role requires four or more years of hands-on data center experience, strong server and Linux knowledge, and an associate degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair hardware failures in complex GPU-based servers, including air- and liquid-cooled systems.
  • Support burn-in and stress testing of new hardware and help qualify new hardware.
  • Open and manage support tickets with hardware vendors, act as the data center liaison for vendor support personnel, and maintain a hardware issue tracker.
  • Maintain accurate spares inventory and replenish stock as needed.
  • Assist with racking and cabling servers for infrastructure deployments.
  • Document hardware issues and resolutions, and communicate effectively with internal teams and vendors.
  • Provide occasional after-hours support for critical issues.

Requirements

  • Significant experience diagnosing and repairing complex GPU-based servers.
  • Deep understanding of server hardware, BMC-based manageability, BIOS settings, and firmware deployment.
  • Four or more years of hands-on data center experience.
  • Familiarity with InfiniBand switches and network topology.
  • Basic Linux system administration skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.
  • Ability to work in a physically challenging environment involving sound, vibration, and thermal conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with high-performance computing technologies.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+ or CCNA.
  • Experience with Python or Bash scripting.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure management tools.
  • Experience in a fast-growing startup environment.
  • Familiarity with data center cooling systems.
  • Experience with liquid cooling systems.
