Responsibilities
- Build, test, and launch marketplace features for the Recommendations team in partnership with senior engineers.
- Contribute to backend and frontend development for customer-facing products.
- Improve and maintain the search platform, including Elasticsearch.
- Increase match personalization and pet-parent confidence through information collection and playback initiatives.
- Support Data Science teams as they develop search algorithms and machine-learning models.
- Collaborate with analysts, designers, data scientists, and technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Break down requirements, navigate ambiguity, and communicate technical approaches effectively.
- Follow engineering best practices, including code quality, automated testing, continuous deployment, monitoring, and anomaly detection.
Requirements
- 1–4 years of professional software development experience.
- Graduation from a formal computer science or engineering program.
- Experience using AI tools in technical and non-technical workflows.
- Strong foundation in professional software development practices and system design.
- Strong communication and consensus-building skills.
- Commitment to high-quality code, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Python/Django, Elasticsearch, React, or React Native.
- Experience with search or two-sided marketplaces.
Compensation and Benefits
- First-year salary range in the greater Seattle area: $99,719–$128,513.
