About the Team and Role
The Experience Platform team owns Pinecone's API, clients, authentication, revenue, and observability systems, redesigning them for AI agents as first-class users. This wide-scope role involves end-to-end ownership from backend architecture to API design, SDKs, and web surfaces, building high-leverage platform capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Pioneer our agent experience. Shape AI agent interactions with Pinecone via interfaces, protocols (MCP), and tooling.
- Ship end-to-end experiences across API, SDK, CLI, and web.
- Build systems that multiply team output with AI-powered workflows and automated quality gates.
- Set the standard for AI-assisted development using tools like Claude Code or Cursor.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams.
- Build observable, auditable systems with monitoring and alerting.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience
- Bias toward automation and leverage
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot)
- Proven ability to design and deliver versioned APIs, SDKs, or client libraries
- Proficiency building web interfaces with React or similar
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Strong intuition for APIs easy for humans and agents
Bonus points for:
- Experience with MCP servers or agent APIs
- Familiarity with agentic frameworks
- Strong familiarity with Rust, Go, or Java
- Experience with large-scale open-source projects
- Experience developing database or query engine SDKs
