Counsel, Product & Commercial

Provides legal counsel on product development, partnerships, technology transactions, and commercial agreements across Lyft’s business. Requires a law degree, state-bar membership, and at least five years of legal experience, preferably advising technology products or partnership integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Advise product teams as they develop, launch, and operate new products and features across multiple lines of business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements involving complex partnerships and technology transactions; serve as primary legal counsel for partnerships from ideation through product implementation.
  • Provide practical and creative legal advice and support on business matters in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Partner with business development, product, engineering, marketing, and public policy teams, serving as the Legal representative throughout product development and related marketing initiatives.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive, long-term legal strategies that balance risk and business objectives.
  • Prioritize workload to meet goals and deadlines as business priorities shift.
  • Assist other teams with projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Law degree and membership in at least one state bar in good standing.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Strong problem-solving, judgment, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with a broad range of commercial agreements and customer-facing terms.
  • Ability to learn new areas of law, work independently, collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and perform under pressure.

  • Experience advising clients on technology product development and/or partnership integration.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Expected base pay range for the San Francisco area: $176,000–$220,000 USD annually, excluding potential equity, bonus, and benefits.
