Responsibilities
Device Lifecycle and Imaging
Enroll corporate and BYOD devices into Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms, including Jamf Pro and Workspace ONE.
Troubleshoot and resolve MDM-related issues.
Receive, inspect, and process returned corporate laptops.
Back up returned-device data securely using Druva before wiping and reimaging.
Execute and improve automated laptop imaging and provisioning workflows using Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune.
Configure standard software, operating system settings, and access controls on provisioned devices.
Perform quality assurance checks before device deployment.
Physical Device Inventory Management
Maintain accurate inventory records for laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and accessories.
Reconcile inventory periodically and update asset records.
Track device conditions, models, serial numbers, and assignment history using asset-management tools such as Jamf Pro, ServiceNow, or Jira Asset Management.
Coordinate hardware intake, storage, and disposition with IT and Finance.
IT Helpdesk Support
Provide on-site technical support for hardware and software issues.
Support macOS, Windows, Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom.
Configure workstations and provision access for new employees.
Support offboarding, including device collection, account-deactivation coordination, and asset recovery.
Troubleshoot common issues and escalate complex cases.
Maintain internal knowledge-base articles.
Conference Room and AV Support
Maintain and update conference-room displays, cameras, Zoom Rooms, and related systems.
Check office AV equipment and flag issues for remediation.
Assist with All Hands and team offsite AV needs.
Process Improvement and Automation
Document imaging and provisioning workflows and identify automation opportunities.
Build or improve tooling and scripts for repetitive IT operations.
Participate in retrospectives and suggest operational improvements.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in or recently completed coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field at Cabrillo College or another accredited institution.
Eligible and committed to Cabrillo College’s CIS Apprenticeship Program for at least 12 months.
Able to commute to Mountain View, CA for scheduled on-site hours.
Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and common software applications.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory and documentation.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage part-time hours, and complete assigned tasks.
Commitment to data privacy and secure handling of sensitive employee information.
Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with device imaging, MDM tools, Jamf Pro, or IT automation.
Experience with macOS and Google Workspace.
Compensation and Program Details
Starting compensation: $25/hour, with at least one pay increase before the end of the apprenticeship.
Part-time, approximately 10–20 hours per week, on-site at the Mountain View, CA office.
12–24-month apprenticeship in partnership with Cabrillo College’s CIS Apprenticeship Program.
No benefits.
Successful apprentices may be considered for conversion to a full-time IT Support role based on business needs and performance.
