Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end software products and web applications, from problem framing and user research through shipping and iterative refinement.
- Design data-intensive interfaces, including tables, charts, filters, query interfaces, dashboards, monitoring and alerting, and analysis tools.
- Create design systems, patterns, components, and tooling that help product and engineering teams work efficiently.
- Design interfaces for ML-powered products, including model development workflows, datasets, configurations, evaluation results, predictions, and AI agents.
- Make complex concepts such as training runs, evaluation metrics, model confidence, precision, and recall understandable to non-experts.
- Use modern AI tooling and agentic workflows to prototype and accelerate design work.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers, including building working prototypes and submitting pull requests.
- Learn new domains quickly and design for varied user groups and connectivity conditions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional product design experience focused on web applications and software products.
- Experience partnering with product and engineering teams and shipping products to external users.
- Exceptional design fundamentals across usability, user research, interaction design, information architecture, visual design, and design systems.
- Experience designing data-intensive applications.
- Track record of taking products from problem definition through launch and ongoing refinement.
- Experience using modern AI tooling, such as Claude Code and agentic workflows.
- Portfolio including at least one software interface design project.
- Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at small or growth-stage companies with end-to-end ownership.
- Experience designing for non-technical users acting on AI output, non-English speakers, or users on low-bandwidth connections.
- Experience with geospatial interfaces, including maps, layers, time sliders, and spatial querying.
- Evidence of self-directed learning through side projects, open-source contributions, writing, or talks.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and TypeScript.
- Willingness to travel internationally occasionally to meet users.
Compensation
- Base salary: $137,520–$206,289, plus bonus plans.
