Principal Consulting Engineer

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development, consulting, or support experience, preferably across multiple industries or verticals.
• Competence in at least one of: Java, C#, Python, Node.js (JavaScript), Ruby, or Go.
• Experience with databases such as MongoDB, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Linux diagnostics and tuning; Windows tuning knowledge is a plus.
• Familiarity with enterprise-scale software architectures, application development methodologies, and software deployment and operations.
• Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Motivation for a role combining deep technical work with customer management.
• Confidence speaking and presenting in collaborative customer settings.
• Comfortable with frequent short trips to customer sites during the working week, up to 15% travel.
• Fluency in Italian and English.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to customer implementations across application lifecycle phases, including portfolio assessment, application planning and design, deployment architecture, development and build, integration and release configuration, system testing, production operations, application optimization, and best-practices adoption.
• Deliver classroom-based customer training for architects, developers, and operations roles.
• Collaborate with consulting engineers, project managers, and account teams as part of a wider delivery team.
• Build a reputation as a trusted advisor for MongoDB and its customers.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to influence the MongoDB product roadmap.
• Become a field expert in MongoDB.
• Communicate complex technical proposals simply and convincingly to varied audiences.
• Ensure client success with MongoDB initiatives.
• Maintain the required level of billable utilization.
• Communicate the product roadmap to external clients.
• Continuously improve personal expertise, products, and team practices.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary in Italy: €77,000–€115,000 EUR.
