HR Operations Manager
Own and build scalable HR operations infrastructure for a distributed workforce, including HRIS, payroll, benefits, employee lifecycle processes, reporting, and compliance. The role requires 4+ years of HR operations experience, HRIS ownership, U.S. employment-law knowledge, and comfort operating in a fast-growing startup.

Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end HR operations, including HRIS administration, employee records, payroll coordination, and benefits administration across a distributed, global workforce.
- Design and run onboarding and offboarding programs.
- Build and maintain HR policies, employee handbook content, and leave-of-absence processes.
- Track federal, state, and local employment-law requirements and translate them into practical compliance processes.
- Partner with Finance on payroll accuracy, benefits invoicing, and headcount reporting.
- Partner with hiring managers to improve the employee lifecycle from offer through exit.
- Build people reporting and metrics, including headcount, attrition, time-to-onboard, and benefits utilization.
- Identify and fix manual or error-prone HR processes through improved tooling, process design, or automation.
Requirements
- 4+ years of HR operations experience, ideally in a fast-growing startup.
- Hands-on experience owning an HRIS such as Rippling, Gusto, BambooHR, Workday, or similar.
- Experience with payroll and benefits administration.
- Working knowledge of U.S. employment law and multi-state compliance.
- Ability to build scalable systems and exercise sound judgment on manual solutions.
- Strong attention to detail with sensitive data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and building a function with limited hand-holding.
Nice to Have
- Experience standing up HR operations at a company scaling from roughly 20 to 100+ employees.
- Exposure to international employment, including EOR platforms, contractor compliance, or global payroll.
- Experience in a technical, engineering-heavy, or AI/ML organization.
- Familiarity with people analytics tools or dashboards in Looker, Tableau, or similar.
