Senior Gen AI Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own generative AI product capabilities end to end, from workflow discovery and prototyping through implementation, rollout, measurement, and continuous improvement.
• Prototype and validate AI solutions, then turn successful approaches into production-ready capabilities.
• Build agentic workflows that reason over campaign, customer, creative, and performance data; use defined tools; produce structured results; and return control to people when appropriate.
• Partner with decision-makers and subject-matter experts to integrate AI agents into practical daily workflows.
• Design the data, tools, and instructions AI systems need to produce grounded results.
• Build reliable production AI workflows with tool use, state management, failure recovery, human-review boundaries, and safe model/software interfaces.
• Develop evaluations using automated checks and human judgment to measure whether AI features accomplish intended tasks.
• Instrument production systems to measure quality, adoption, business impact, latency, cost, and failure modes.
• Apply safeguards for customer data, system access, and high-impact workflows.
• Build Python services and TypeScript/React interfaces for customer-facing products.
• Evaluate and adopt new models and techniques when they improve product quality, capability, speed, or cost.
• Mentor engineers and establish practices for designing, testing, and operating AI-powered products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience building and operating meaningful production products, ideally across backend services, data, and user interfaces.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered or AI-assisted products beyond a demo, including reliability, context, tool use, provider changes, latency, cost, and changing model behavior.
• High proficiency in Python and comfort with TypeScript and React.
• Strong fundamentals in API design, data modeling, SQL, and testing.
• Understanding of the data, tools, instructions, permissions, feedback loops, and quality measures surrounding AI models.
• Ability to define success criteria, investigate failures, and improve AI experiences using testing, feedback, and production signals.
• Strong product and engineering judgment.
• Clear technical communication and effective collaboration with technical and non-technical partners.
• Comfort working through ambiguity and making informed decisions with incomplete information.

Nice to Have

• Experience as an early engineer, startup founder, or in another high-ownership environment.
• Experience with advertising technology, campaign optimization, performance marketing, analytics products, or data-rich B2B software.

Compensation and Benefits

• Full compensation package including equity and health, vision, and dental benefits based on country of residence.
• Base salary varies by candidate location and experience.
• SF Bay Area, Los Angeles/Orange County, NYC, and Seattle: $230,000–$270,000 USD.
• All other cities and towns in approved states: $211,000–$248,000 USD.
• Benefits may include medical coverage, wellness stipends, and additional perks.
