Creates and maintains centimeter-precise HD maps for Level 4 autonomous vehicles using lidar, imagery, and 3D geospatial data. The role requires 3+ years of mapping experience, a bachelor’s degree, and familiarity with autonomous-vehicle mapping standards and tools.

Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and maintain high-definition maps supporting Level 4 autonomous vehicle operations.
- Digitize road-network geometry, semantic attributes, and related infrastructure using lidar point clouds, high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery, street-level imagery, and other geospatial inputs.
- Apply detailed mapping specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Complete revision cycles based on validation, performance, robustness, and system-integration criteria.
- Triage, troubleshoot, and identify root causes of map-related disengagement issues.
- Provide structured feedback to improve internal tools, workflows, and mapping specifications.
- Collaborate with software engineers using Git, GitHub, Jira, Google Workspace, and Slack.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience creating and maintaining maps, preferably in autonomous-vehicle mapping, GIS, or 3D game design.
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Strong understanding of centimeter-precision lane-level geometry, routing, and HD map structures used in autonomous driving.
- Experience with point-cloud data, 3D visualization environments, or lidar-based annotation tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise digitization protocols.
- Comfort with repetitive, accuracy-focused tasks and versioned map delivery.
- Ability to work independently and stay organized in a fast-paced, asynchronous environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with autonomous-vehicle maps, AV datasets, or HD-mapping pipelines.
- Background in HD-map pipelines for autonomous vehicles, robotics, or mapping platforms.
- Experience with ADP, Apollo, Lanelet2, OpenDRIVE, or similar HD-map standards and formats.
- Experience using browser-based map editors or web-based 3D tools.
- Basic scripting skills in Python or SQL and command-line tooling.
- Familiarity with feedback loops between mapping, perception, and planning teams.
- Familiarity with log-based resimulation and simulation-based map validation.
