Director, Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering from initial product scope through global scale for an AI-powered corporate travel assistant and concierge.
• Own product areas and technical domains end to end, including business metrics such as booking volume, conversion, latency, and AI inference costs.
• Guide the architecture and implementation of AI systems using LangChain, Nest.js, vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), open-source large language models, and model fine-tuning.
• Lead development of user-facing conversational AI products and scalable chatbot architectures.
• Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Operations, and senior executives to align technical roadmaps with business objectives.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain engineering and AI talent while building a high-performing, psychologically safe culture.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years in senior leadership roles managing managers, such as Engineering Managers or Directors.
• Proven experience developing user-facing AI products, conversational LLM applications, and scalable chatbot architectures.
• End-to-end perspective across backend, AI, mobile, data, system architecture, and business funnels.
• Track record of delivering high-impact products in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
• Strong executive presence and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• High emotional intelligence and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Willingness to work at least 3 days per week from the Tel Aviv office, increasing to 4–5 days as business needs require.

Preferred Skills

• Experience scaling engineering organizations and developing Engineering Managers.
• Experience with open-source LLMs, model fine-tuning, and AI inference cost optimization.
