Responsibilities
Shape the core product roadmap and vision in partnership with leadership for the Chess.com experience
Identify what keeps players coming back, what causes them to leave, and what will delight them next
Bring ideas and sharpen them with the team; engage with feedback from leadership and peers
Operate in public using async Slack communication; brainstorm openly, pose sharp questions, make decisive calls with reasoning
Partner deeply with engineering from early stages through delivery; shape technical approach, write crisp specs, drive execution
Own engagement metrics, define metrics that matter, build intuition for what drives them, run experiments
Use AI to prototype, de-risk, and accelerate; build mocks, test flows, and pressure-test ideas before engineering invests
Requirements
4+ years in product management with strong consumer product experience
Shipped consumer-facing products that millions of people use and love
Excellent product taste, especially in the chess context; understand what a beginner needs vs. a club player vs. a titled player
High-velocity communicator; communicate clearly and concisely at speed across many projects
Act as focal point across design, engineering, stakeholders, product peers, and executives
Operate primarily in writing with high throughput
Preferred
7+ years in product management with strong consumer product experience
Technically fluent; collaborate deeply with engineers and understand systems
Comfortable reasoning about metrics and connecting engineering discussions back to product and user
AI-native; use AI daily to prototype, explore ideas, and accelerate execution; build working prototypes as basis for discussion
Senior Product Manager shaping Datadog's Observability Data Platform (control plane and data layer).
