Prototype & Test Engineering Intern, New Product Development

Build, deploy, test, and troubleshoot electromechanical prototypes for a new product, collaborating across hardware and software teams to analyze failures and validate corrective actions. Responsibilities

  • Build and test complex electromechanical systems for a new product, including sensors, pumps, and electronics.
  • Collaborate with the product team to deploy systems to real users.
  • Work with sensor, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to review sensor data and field feedback, identify root causes, and determine corrective actions.
  • Reproduce and characterize failure cases on the bench to confirm root causes and validate corrective actions.
  • Track and report troubleshooting findings to engineering and product teams.

Requirements

  • Engineering background with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Hands-on prototyping experience with mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience using lab and diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and command-line utilities to characterize and debug hardware-firmware systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or expected bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude for debugging, scripting, or documentation.

Compensation

  • Annual salary: $62,400-$72,800.
