Principal AI Product Engineer

Build internal products, knowledge systems, data experiences, and agent-building tools for a growing insurance technology company. The role combines principal-level product engineering, frontend development, design judgment, agentic coding, and systems thinking in a hybrid Boston environment.

Responsibilities

Design and ship internal knowledge systems, decision-making surfaces, dashboards, catalogs, and agent-builder UIs.
Understand company-wide data flows and determine what to centralize versus keep with individual teams.
Create discoverable, governable patterns for composing, registering, and trusting internal agents.
Prioritize and manage a portfolio of small internal products based on leverage.
Partner with the Technical Infrastructure counterpart on the platform experience layer.
Present work and explain decisions to engineers, executives, and customers.

Requirements

Combine strong design instincts with the ability to ship production code independently.
Strong experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind, and shadcn/ui or an equivalent.
Comfortable working across frontend and backend boundaries.
Experience with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or comparable agentic coding tools.
Strong product judgment, prioritization, systems thinking, communication, and UI craft.

Nice to Have

AWS familiarity, including Cognito, Bedrock, and CDK.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual base salary: $152,000–$283,000 USD.
