Responsibilities
- Review and advise on marketing language across promotional materials, product announcements, web copy, advertising, social media, email campaigns, sales enablement content, and event and press materials.
- Ensure marketing claims are accurate, substantiated, and compliant.
- Balance commercial, marketing, compliance, and privacy considerations for advertising campaigns in the United States and internationally.
- Advise on targeted and digital advertising practices, including data, privacy, tracking, email marketing, and direct-to-consumer marketing.
- Serve as an embedded legal partner to Marketing and Communications leadership, providing practical guidance that enables campaigns to launch quickly and responsibly.
- Partner with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment and escalate matters appropriately.
- Collaborate with the commercial team on global marketing agreements.
Requirements
- J.D. and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience at a law firm and/or in-house.
- Meaningful experience with marketing, advertising, and commercial contracting.
- Strong knowledge of advertising and marketing law, including claims substantiation and consumer protection.
- Working knowledge of privacy and data protection issues relevant to targeted advertising and direct-to-consumer marketing.
- Ability to independently draft and negotiate a high volume of marketing commercial agreements.
- Excellent judgment, a business-first mindset, and ability to provide clear, practical advice under tight timelines.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and partnering with non-legal stakeholders.
Compensation
- $210,300–$281,500 USD annually.
