Data Scientist

Lead end-to-end data science projects spanning growth experiments, repayment forecasting models, and data infrastructure. Build ML models, design metrics, and partner cross-functionally to expand responsible access to capital.

Responsibilities

  • Design experiments and analyses that expand access to capital while keeping the portfolio healthy
  • Study the full merchant lifecycle to find where we can responsibly extend more capital
  • Model prospective partner portfolio performance before launching
  • Build and ship ML models (XGBoost and similar) that forecast merchant repayment behavior
  • Measure the impact of servicing efforts on merchant outcomes
  • Build data pipelines that power every analysis, dashboard, and ML model
  • Automate processes using APIs, ML, and LLMs
  • Build internal tools (Streamlit apps, dashboards, Slack bots) used daily by the company
  • Lead projects from end to end across growth, portfolio monitoring, and infrastructure domains

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related fields
  • Statistical reasoning: design concise metrics, apply causal inference methods, develop predictive ML models
  • Business acumen: identify and prioritize business problems, anticipate impact on financial performance and compliance
  • Engineering mindset: write legible, reliable, tested code; contribute to model and data infrastructure design
  • Leadership and collaboration: build trusted relationships, document work, seek feedback, mentor other DS members
  • Focused execution: prioritize high-impact work, scope projects rigorously, act with urgency
  • AI tool fluency: rapidly adopt emerging AI tools and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $200k - $235k (individual contributor); $235k - $330k+ (Senior/Staff)
