About the Role
Program manager supporting OpenAI’s alignment and safety ecosystem through program execution, relationship management, and operational ownership. Works closely with alignment leadership on external-facing programs, partnerships, and coordination in a fast-moving research environment.
In this role, you will:
- Own logistics and execution for alignment events, coordinating with researchers, external participants, and internal stakeholders.
- Support third-party collaborations as an operational counterparty, including program management, contracting, follow-through, and cross-functional tracking.
- Help incubate and manage external collaborations with alignment ecosystem organizations, such as research collaborations or shared infrastructure.
- Provide informed recruiting support for alignment ecosystem hiring by sourcing, mapping, and engaging candidates and communities.
- Serve as RPM counterpart for the Alignment blog, driving publishing operations, editorial coordination, and drafting support.
- Support compute management processes, including coordination, tracking, and operational follow-through.
- If pilot successful, run Safety Fellows program end-to-end, including selection, participant support, programming, and management.
You might thrive if you:
- Have 4+ years in program management, operations, partnerships, recruiting, or related work in research, policy, or technical environments.
- Can independently drive complex, multi-stakeholder workstreams with strong judgment.
- Familiar with AI safety/alignment ecosystem and build trust with external researchers.
- Communicate clearly and write effectively.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, maintain momentum, close operational gaps independently.
- Experience supporting fellowships, research communities, or partnerships (plus).
