Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end product design for the Eight Sleep mobile app, from information architecture and low-fidelity wireframes through high-fidelity mockups.
- Design intuitive, engaging experiences that help users track, understand, and optimize sleep and health performance.
- Conduct usability studies and user interviews, partnering with customer discovery teams.
- Use qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate designs, reduce churn, and increase engagement.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Brand, Marketing, Research & Development, and interdisciplinary teams to ship products and features.
- Build, document, and organize UI components for the design library and design system.
- Present design updates and evolutions to stakeholders and C-suite leadership.
- Own app design patterns and interactions, while staying current on mobile design trends and best practices.
- Coach junior designers and manage the design process independently in ambiguous environments.
Requirements
- 4+ years of UX and UI design experience.
- Strong portfolio with live mobile product examples.
- Experience shipping designs to public users and using data to evaluate outcomes.
- Ability to assess technical implications and balance user value with engineering effort.
- Experience collaborating with Product Managers and Engineers.
- Strong visual design skills and a high bar for simplicity and quality.
- Ability to iterate quickly and frequently.
- Strong written communication and presentation skills, including agendas, decks, and C-suite presentations.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to other office locations, including San Francisco and Milan.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related design field or equivalent experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building consumer-facing mobile apps at small or mid-size technology startups.
- Experience designing Android applications.
