UX Research Intern

Conduct qualitative and quantitative UX research for Lyft’s driver and rider products, using methods such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, and field research. The internship requires current graduate study in a related discipline and strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research studies independently and alongside senior researchers.
  • Use ethnographic and field research, diary studies, surveys, remote and in-person usability testing, guerrilla research, and other appropriate methods.
  • Review, analyze, and communicate research data to generate tactical and strategic insights.
  • Develop actionable recommendations that drive product innovation and improve user experiences.
  • Collaborate with Design, Product Management, Analytics, and Engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a master's or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Design, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field at a Canadian university.
  • Graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
  • Available for a Summer 2027 internship in Toronto.
  • Experience conducting or coordinating qualitative research studies or academic research projects, including usability testing, surveys, field research, or user interviews.
  • Strong organizational, listening, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to troubleshoot effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Research experience with mobile technology or in applied product research.
  • Experience designing surveys, conducting experiments, and analyzing large datasets with statistical methods.
  • Qualtrics or SurveyMonkey.
  • Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for cleaning, handling, and transforming data.
  • SQL, R, SPSS, or other data analysis software.
  • Research participant recruitment and management.
  • Design thinking, visual communication, information design, or wireframing.

Compensation and Benefits

  • CAD $40–$48 per hour, equivalent to CAD $83,200–$99,840 annually based on 2,080 hours.
