Senior Commercial Counsel
Senior commercial counsel will negotiate strategic transactions and advise sales and business development while building scalable legal infrastructure. The role requires 5+ years of legal experience, international commercial expertise across UK/EU and APAC, and knowledge of privacy, IP, data security, and AI issues.

Responsibilities
- Structure, negotiate, and close enterprise sales, partnership, vendor, services, data license, and marketing agreements.
- Advise sales and business development teams on commercial transactions.
- Design scalable legal processes, including standardized deal terms, templates, and streamlined contracting workflows.
- Provide practical guidance on privacy, intellectual property, data security, data licensing, and AI-related legal issues.
- Navigate cross-border commercial and regulatory matters across the UK/EU and APAC.
- Structure data transfer mechanisms, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), adequacy decisions, and Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs).
- Monitor the evolving legal landscape for AI technologies and translate developments into actionable guidance.
- Support the broad range of legal issues associated with a fast-growing startup.
Requirements
- JD, LLM, or equivalent law degree or qualification from an accredited institution.
- 5–12 years of legal practice experience or more, in-house, at a law firm, or both.
- Demonstrated strength in international commercial transactions, particularly across UK/EU and APAC markets.
- Experience with enterprise deals, partnerships, and other strategic relationships.
- Depth of experience in at least some of intellectual property, privacy, data security, and data licensing, with willingness to develop in the remaining areas.
- Practical experience with relevant data protection regimes and cross-border transfer mechanisms.
- Ability to provide clear, actionable advice in ambiguous situations.
- Exceptional precise, plain, and compelling writing.
