Software Engineer - Integrations
Build and scale backend integrations between a public-safety platform and mission-critical third-party systems using APIs, data pipelines, messaging, and event-driven workflows. The role requires 3+ years of software engineering experience and hybrid work from the Manchester office.

Responsibilities
- Lead full lifecycle development of integrations connecting the Mark43 platform with external systems such as 911 call centers, state databases, evidence systems, and other services.
- Make architectural decisions and build scalable, maintainable solutions using REST APIs, message queues, and event-driven workflows.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and partner technical teams to define reliable API contracts and integration patterns.
- Improve coding standards and participate in code reviews.
- Contribute to integration testing strategies, observability, and dashboards for monitoring operational data flows.
- Promote best practices for performance, security, and error handling in distributed systems.
- Participate in sprint planning, roadmap discussions, and technical strategy across the integrations team.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend services, distributed systems, and system integrations.
- Experience designing and operating APIs, webhooks, or asynchronous messaging systems.
- Experience with technologies such as Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, RESTful services, SQL, MySQL, and data pipelines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional partners.
- Authorization to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
- Ability to work at least three days per week from the Manchester office.
Nice to Have
- Experience in public safety, government software, or regulated domains.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and cloud-native practices.
