Responsibilities
- Architect and implement AI-powered systems for real-time trust-and-safety decision-making and policy enforcement at scale.
- Build observability tooling to monitor abuse trends and respond to novel attack patterns.
- Balance protective interventions with trusted-user experience and minimize unnecessary friction.
- Partner with Operations to translate policy decisions into scalable enforcement rules.
- Build tooling, escalation paths, and appeal workflows for Support teams and users.
- Collaborate with Data Science on threat and anomaly detection.
- Integrate privacy and safety considerations into product development with Product Engineering and Design.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for Trust & Safety incidents and drive preventative improvements.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure infrastructure across GCP, including Cloud Functions, Firestore, Cloud Tasks, Redis, and Pub/Sub.
- Design performant APIs, databases, and backend systems.
- Drive the Trust & Safety roadmap and balance safety investment with broader business needs.
Requirements
- 3–11 years of full-stack, infrastructure engineering, or applied machine learning experience in a fast-paced or high-growth environment.
- 2+ years of Trust & Safety experience.
- Experience building enforcement systems end-to-end, including detection, action pipelines, escalation workflows, and appeals.
- Fluency with common abuse vectors on consumer social platforms.
- Experience with legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements for trust systems.
- Experience designing and managing serverless or event-driven systems at scale.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD workflows and best practices.
- Experience with observability systems such as Sentry and GCP Cloud Logging & Metrics Explorer.
- Strong networking, security, and performance-tuning fundamentals.
- Comfort working in TypeScript and Node.js environments.
- A builder’s mindset, strong ownership, and a bias toward action.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, and prototyping.
Nice to Have
- Backend-leaning engineering experience with a Trust & Safety specialization.
- Trust & Safety experience in consumer social products.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation range: $165,000–$210,000, depending on years of experience.
