Senior Data Engineer - Finance
Owns the Finance data infrastructure supporting billing, usage-based revenue, forecasting, reporting, and close. The role requires production data engineering experience, strong SQL and Python, dbt and orchestration expertise, Finance-domain fluency, and the ability to mentor engineers and partner with business stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Own reliable pipelines that ingest billing, usage, and contract data into the warehouse, including metered usage across multiple products.
- Diagnose and resolve data quality and freshness issues at the source.
- Design and maintain dbt models that transform billing and usage data into trusted datasets for revenue recognition, margin, and forecasting.
- Establish testing and documentation standards for accurate reconciliation of usage-based revenue against contracts.
- Build datasets and semantic models for Finance planning, forecasting, reporting, and close.
- Design self-service data solutions that reduce one-off requests.
- Partner with FP&A, Accounting, and Revenue stakeholders to translate business questions into durable data models.
- Build production-grade pipeline and transformation code, conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and help set technical standards.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related field, owning production data pipelines end-to-end.
- Strong SQL and Python skills, with experience writing production-grade, testable code.
- Hands-on experience with dbt or a comparable transformation framework, dimensional and data modeling, and modern ELT/ETL workflows.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster.
- Direct experience with Finance data, ideally usage-based billing, revenue recognition, financial close, or forecasting metrics.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into technical specifications and durable data models.
- Strong communication skills with technical and business audiences.
- Technical ownership, independent architecture judgment, and mentoring experience.
- Familiarity with reconciliation, versioning, lineage, accuracy, and auditability standards for Finance data.

- San Francisco, CA base pay range: $170,000–$260,000. Compensation outside San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location.
