Responsibilities
- Revamp and modernize the contract review process, with a focus on AI-enabled efficiency.
- Oversee the full contract lifecycle, from intake, drafting, negotiation, and execution through termination.
- Perform high-volume commercial contract review and ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Manage vendor contracts, including negotiation, performance monitoring, and dispute resolution.
- Lead and scale teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Manage direct and skip-level reports through guidance, feedback, and professional development.
- Collaborate with enterprise revenue teams on sales and business development efforts.
- Design, build, and deploy AI tools and agents for contract intake, drafting, redlining, clause extraction, and risk flagging.
- Partner with engineering and legal operations to tune models, playbooks, and guardrails.
- Evaluate, select, and implement legal AI and contract lifecycle management platforms; manage vendors, integrations, and performance metrics.
- Expand AI automation into compliance, privacy, and litigation support/eDiscovery.
- Define and track efficiency and quality metrics, including cycle time, accuracy, and cost savings, and report ROI to leadership.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Bar membership in good standing and a license to practice law.
- 10+ years of experience in an in-house legal team or law firm.
- 10+ years drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, service contracts, NDAs, and licensing agreements.
- Hands-on experience implementing or configuring AI/GenAI tools for legal work, including AI agents, prompt engineering, and model-output evaluation.
- Experience evaluating and implementing legal AI or CLM platforms such as Ironclad, Ivo, Harvey, Spellbook, or Legora.
- Working knowledge of AI governance and regulatory considerations, including the EU AI Act, state AI laws, and data privacy requirements.
- Proven people-management, mentoring, and team-development experience.
- Strong communication and legal skills for advising stakeholders on contractual risks, obligations, and liabilities.
- Experience partnering across an organization to close high-value deals and launch products.
- Ability to manage commercial contracting, support product development, manage privacy law, and align business strategies with legal requirements.
- Ability to lead high-impact projects and automate high-velocity work.
- Solutions-oriented approach to solving business problems.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range for Los Angeles, CA: $189,000.00–$200,000.00.
- Remote compensation is adjusted based on the location where the position is filled.
