Staff Software Engineer, Crusoe Container Registry

Responsibilities

• Set the architecture and scaling roadmap for Crusoe Cloud's container registry.
• Establish technical patterns and standards while maintaining long-term scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Drive high-impact changes from design through production.
• Develop performance strategies, profile and benchmark systems, and optimize latency, throughput, caching, and resource usage.
• Own critical systems through operational pressure, including difficult tradeoffs and incident response.
• Raise the team's technical bar through architecture, design, code review, mentorship, and hiring.
• Influence designs across adjacent teams and align with product and cross-functional partners.
• Lead the technical response when systems fail.

Requirements

• Proven success designing, scaling, and hardening distributed systems in high-load production environments.
• Deep practical experience profiling, benchmarking, and optimizing distributed systems.
• Experience owning critical systems from design through production.
• Customer-focused approach with the ability to translate customer needs into codebase changes.
• Strong fundamentals in microservices and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Proficiency in one or more of Go, Rust, Java, or C++.
• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly with technical and non-technical partners.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to hiring.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including building and operating distributed systems.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with OCI image and distribution specifications.
• Experience building container registry products.
• Experience with storage or caching systems at scale.

• Compensation range of up to $215,000–$260,000 plus bonus.
