Chief of Staff, Online Grocery

Responsibilities

Run the operating rhythm

• Own and continuously improve the business rhythm for the GM and organization, including leadership syncs, all-team meetings, monthly and quarterly business reviews, planning reviews, organizational communications, and Online Grocery segments of company-wide all-hands.
• Manage the GM’s operating cadence by prioritizing and delegating workstreams and ensuring the right priorities receive attention at the right time.
• Improve organizational decision-making by clarifying decision rights, building decision frameworks and pre-reads, and reducing friction.
• Capture, communicate, and track decisions, priorities, and commitments through execution.
• Shape and run leadership team offsites, including objectives, agendas, pre-reads, discussions, decisions, and follow-through.
• Serve as a trusted thought partner to the GM and problem-solving partner to product and R&D leaders.
• Build relationships with chiefs of staff across the organization.
• Prepare briefings and coordinate research for the GM’s meetings with partners and key leaders.
• Partner with the GM, HR, and finance to manage the organization’s headcount budget.

Plan executive communication

• Drive the calendar, planning, and content for upward communication and alignment with the C-suite and board on Online Grocery priorities.
• Support the GM in preparing content for speaking engagements in partnership with the communications team.

Strengthen people, culture, and organizational health

• Help the GM identify, diagnose, and address organizational issues through structured readouts and early signals.
• Partner with the GM and HR to address relationship and culture dynamics and create a high-trust, high-performance leadership culture.
• Turn engagement survey signals into action plans, pressure-test them, and ensure execution and follow-through.

Drive priority programs

• Help lead annual and long-range planning for Online Grocery.
• Take ambiguous initiatives from unclear to fully underway by creating plans, identifying directly responsible individuals, establishing decisions, aligning stakeholders, and setting up operating rhythms.
• Identify and take ownership of emerging opportunities and risks before they become blockers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of work experience.
• R&D experience in product, design, engineering, technical program management, an adjacent role embedded with R&D teams, or a Chief of Staff role within an R&D organization.
• Consulting, corporate strategy and operations, or finance experience working directly with executives.
• Fluency navigating product, design, and engineering organizations at scale.
• High emotional intelligence and a people-oriented approach to building trusted relationships and bridging leadership and teams.
• Outstanding executive-level written and verbal communication.
• Strong analytical skills and a commitment to high-quality work.
• Exceptional program management skills, including driving multiple complex initiatives to deadline.
• Ability to travel 10%.

Compensation and Benefits

• ATS-listed base salary range: $199,000–$252,000 USD.
• The role is eligible for a new-hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
• Base pay varies by permanent US work location:
  • CA, NY, CT, NJ: $239,000–$252,000 USD
  • WA: $229,000–$241,500 USD
  • OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI: $219,000–$231,000 USD
  • All other states: $199,000–$210,000 USD
