At Atomic Machines, we’re completely rethinking how things are built—and we need a PLM/CAD Administrator with a strong engineering background who can make our revolutionary technology easy to communicate. In this role, you’ll use your technical expertise to capture detailed engineering concepts, development of cutting-edge manufacturing processes, and innovative product specs into clear, concise documentation. Your audience will include everyone from fellow engineers to fabricators, our internal shop and future customers. You’ll be part of a small, passionate team shaping the company’s processes and products, and your work will be key in bringing a whole new category of devices to life. If you love the challenge of diving deep into technical details and communicating them in a way that helps share to the engineering community, we’d love to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Support CAD administration, in Onshape with connection to Arena.
  • Support users with document creation and release, mainly assembly drawings.
  • Preliminary design release check for drawing completeness and accuracy.
  • Create Work Instructions (SOPs) so people can easily follow step-by-step processes.
  • Document control engineer release management.
  • Create guides, schedules, and templates for new hires so they can hit the ground running.
  • Keep an organized knowledge base of best practices, FAQs, and lessons learned.
  • Partner with engineers, product managers, and designers to gather details and confirm design release accuracy.
  • Serve as the go-to person for questions about documentation and CAD design needs.
  • Establish style guides and templates to keep content consistent and user-friendly.
  • Continuously refine our approaches to ensure the highest quality documentation.
  • Learn new tools and trends that can improve our docs and processes.
  • Keep an eye on user feedback and champion documentation improvements whenever needed.

What You’ll Need:

  • Engineering background (Associate, BS, MS, or PhD in engineering).
  • 3-6 years of experience in a CAD administration, PLM administration, product manager, engineering, or field/support engineering background.
  • Strong understanding of Engineering documentation principles that you can demonstrate through past design examples.
  • Able to communicate design release principles.
  • You know how to talk to engineers, and designers to get the info you need and translate to aid in trouble shooting.
  • Train and coach engineers and other employees on processes and applications.
  • Comfortable with shifting priorities, quick changes, and a startup’s ever-evolving needs.
  • You bring a “startup mentality” to the table, proactively tackling challenges and seeking innovative solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of content development cycles, and documentation best practices.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and convey changes in priorities and expected delivery schedule to partner teams.
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerances and ASME Y14 standards.
  • CAD experience (Onshape a plus).
