About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own Scale's global policy strategy across all issue areas, including AI governance, federal procurement, international AI safety frameworks and more.
  • Lead and grow a team of policy professionals, setting priorities and managing execution across a complex portfolio.
  • Translate business objectives into policy outcomes.
  • Serve as Scale's senior voice at trade associations, standards bodies, and industry coalitions; drive consensus on Scale's priority positions.
  • Brief and advise Scale's executive leadership on regulatory and legislative developments affecting the business.
  • Lead Scale's response to Rulemakings, Requests for Comments, and regulatory proceedings across jurisdictions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior government officials, agency leads, and legislative staff in the US and internationally.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in Policy or working in the Government.
  • Experience successfully securing consensus for priorities at trade associations, standards bodies.
  • Experience leading company response to Rulemakings, Request for Comments, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A history of managing multiple work streams simultaneously.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Previous technical experience such as publishing research/peer reviewed paper, covering technology policy as an issue area within the Government, working at a technical Government Agency within the Executive Branch, or experience in the technology sector.
  • History working within a startup environment or tech company.
  • Active U.S. Top Secret or Secret clearance.
