People Specialist
Leads South African HR operations, employee relations, compliance, culture, and manager training while partnering with a global People team. Requires a bachelor’s degree, 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, strong South African labour-law expertise, and CCMA representation experience.

Responsibilities
Culture & Engagement
- Shape and nurture local workplace culture aligned with global values.
- Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives with the global People team.
- Organize meals, volunteering events, staff parties, and other local initiatives and perks.
Employee Relations
- Identify and mitigate employment relations risks with leaders.
- Support managers and employees through investigations, disciplinary and performance management processes, and grievances.
- Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation, including the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and Employment Equity Act.
- Represent the organization at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
HR Administration & Compliance
- Facilitate onboarding and offboarding for South African employees.
- Manage local benefits programs, leave management, and statutory reporting.
- Develop and implement South Africa-specific HR policies and procedures aligned with global policies.
- Create and maintain local standard operating procedures.
- Manage relationships with external service providers.
- Develop and implement health and safety policy.
Training & Development
- Design and deliver training for global managers on South African employment law and cultural considerations.
- Advise the global People team on performance management, local disciplinary processes, and employee relations practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labour Law, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience.
- Experience representing employers at the CCMA with successful outcomes.
- Practical knowledge of South African employment legislation and case law.
- Experience supporting managers in a global or multinational organization, including specific US experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Comprehensive South African labour-law knowledge.
- Mediation and negotiation skills.
- Experience managing in diverse, multicultural environments.
- Strategic business acumen.
- Training and facilitation experience.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours.
- Experience with HRIS platforms and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Nice-to-Haves
- HR certification, such as SABPP or CPHR SA.
