Engineering Manager (Remote)
Leads and grows engineering team in fast-paced startup, managing engineers, setting technical direction, collaborating cross-functionally, and ensuring scalable software delivery for construction permitting SaaS. Requires 5+ years engineering with 3+ years leadership.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage engineers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. Conduct regular 1:1s, feedback sessions, and career development opportunities
- Set direction and anticipate scaling challenges through thoughtful technical and personnel planning. Define priorities, track KPIs, and manage technical debt while aligning with business goals
- Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, set timelines, and ensure timely delivery of software features. Manage agile processes to maintain high velocity and efficiency
- Ensure best practices in architecture, system design, and code quality. Oversee the scalability, reliability, and security of systems and infrastructure
- Work closely with stakeholders, including product, finance, and customer success teams, to prioritize feature development and enhance the customer experience
- Lead the hiring process to grow the engineering team. Provide mentorship and career development for team members, including junior managers
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in leadership roles
- Strong alignment with PermitFlow’s culture. You are comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment, where ambiguity is common
- Proven experience managing and scaling teams in a startup
- Strong communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with agile methodologies and continuous improvement
- Knowledge of testing and performance optimization for web applications
- Experience in high-growth startups or SaaS
Bonus points if you have familiarity with construction or permitting industries
