About the role

What You'll Accomplish

In your first 3 months:

  • Build deep trust with your team of ~8 engineers
  • Embed yourself in the React Native (Phoenix) codebase and BFF layer
  • Establish rhythm with PM and Design partners
  • Audit current SDUI migration plan, identify risks
  • Sequence team's experiment backlog with clear owners and dates

In your first 6 months:

  • Drive SDUI migration to completion
  • Stand up rigorous experimentation framework (card ordering, layout variants, content strategies)

In your first year:

  • Make Today tab a meaningful daily pull for members
  • Turn Explore into high-intent "second session" surface (Favorites, content discovery, search, personalization)
  • Own AI-native development practices (architecture docs, Claude Code skills, AI-assisted PR workflows)
  • Operate as high-trust platform partner with clear extension patterns

Who You Are

  • "Lead at All Levels" player-coach: Stay close to technology, contribute code, review PRs (~15% time)
  • "Learn-it-all" experimenter: Run A/B tests, reason about sample sizes, interference effects
  • "Accountability" operator: Translate OKRs into plans, manage requests, re-plan priorities
  • "Hustle" builder: Champion AI-native development as core workflow

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years managing team of 5+ engineers in fast-paced product environment
  • Strong mobile/client-side background: React Native or equivalent BFF/full-stack
  • Experience owning major product surface end-to-end
  • Ability to run A/B experiments and experimentation strategy
  • Hands-on technical contribution as EM

Preferred Qualifications

  • React Native/Phoenix depth: Large codebases, performance, app architecture
  • Server-Driven UI (SDUI) experience
  • AI-native practices: Cursor, Claude Code, prompting, agent review
  • Platform engineering mindset
  • GraphQL/Apollo: Caching, BFF patterns, mobile data fetching

Hinge Health Hybrid Model

Hybrid roles require 3 days/week in office for full 8-hour business days. San Francisco office is dog-friendly.
