Engineering Manager
Engineering Manager responsible for leading software engineering teams, overseeing platform infrastructure on AWS, mentoring engineers, and driving technical strategy in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in software engineering
- Direct daily operations of department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards and setting deadlines
- Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others to solicit cooperation and resolve problems
- Review project plans to plan and coordinate project activity
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of platform solutions using AWS services (DynamoDB, Kinesis, EC2) and databases like Postgres
- Work closely with engineering and product leaders to identify use cases, define requirements, and drive technical decisions
- Promote a culture of innovation, encourage creative problem-solving, and drive continuous improvement
- Mentor engineers at all levels, providing guidance on career development and technical skills
- Establish clear team objectives and align them with broader business goals
- Regularly evaluate progress and adjust priorities to meet evolving needs
- Ensure platform infrastructure meets high standards for reliability, availability, and performance with proactive monitoring and rapid incident response
- Act as a key contributor to overall engineering initiatives, collaborating with other leaders across the company
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- 5 years of experience in software engineering manager/director-related occupation
- At least 5 years of experience leading and mentoring a team of software engineers
- At least 5 years of experience with cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, security, and compliance teams
- At least 2 years of experience with AWS services such as DynamoDB and Kinesis
- At least 2 years of experience with event-driven software architecture principles
- At least 2 years of experience with Terraform, CircleCI, ArgoCD, AWS CloudFormation, Docker, and Kubernetes
- At least 2 years of experience with Datadog, GitHub Actions, PagerDuty, and AWS CloudWatch
- At least 2 years of experience forging strategic relationships with third-party vendors
- At least 2 years of experience with customer-centric culture and driving engineering productivity
Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. Telecommuting is permitted.
