Senior Engineering Manager
Lead engineering teams building backend, infrastructure, and AI systems for a social product studio. Own people management, delivery, and technical direction as a player-coach with 7+ years engineering and 2+ years management experience.
Responsibilities
- Build and support the engineering team by working with recruiting to hire engineers
- Guide development of backend and infrastructure systems
- Turn product and technical vision into monthly roadmaps
- Collaborate with EPD leadership to improve shipping velocity
- Partner with platform lead on backend technical standards
- Own incident process and developer-experience improvements
- Lead changes to enable AI-assisted development across the platform
- Work with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to co-create solutions
- Convert technical and product visions into tangible roadmaps with leadership
- Identify and execute high-impact opportunities in cost efficiency, performance, and user safety
- Partner with product, finance, and trust & safety teams
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience (ideally backend, platform, or infrastructure)
- 2+ years of engineering management experience
- Experience sourcing and hiring engineers
- Experience supporting a team of 6+ engineers through coaching and career development
- Strong understanding of high-quality code and engineering processes
- Ability to support architecture decisions for systems that scale from thousands to millions of users
- Proficiency with modern AI tooling and ability to enable AI-assisted development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bias toward shipping and getting things done in fast-paced environments
- Commitment to coaching, developing, and supporting team members
