Tooling & Fixturing Engineer
Design and own production tooling and fixtures (weld fixtures, assembly jigs, lifting tools) from concept through validation, lifecycle management, and operator-focused design for high-volume fabrication/assembly. Requires proven experience designing fixtures that hold tolerance at rate using proper stack-ups and capability studies.
About the job
Role Scope
- Design the tooling and fixtures the factory builds with: weld fixtures, assembly jigs, and lifting and handling tools.
- Own fixtures from concept through proving: tolerance stack-ups, repeatability studies, and sign-off.
- Manage the tooling lifecycle: maintenance, calibration, revisions, and the register that tracks it all.
- Design for the operator: fast loading, mistake-proofing, and safe handling of heavy parts.
What We're Looking For
- You've designed production tooling and fixtures for fabrication or assembly, and they're still in use.
- You do stack-ups properly and your fixtures hold tolerance at rate.
- You've proven fixtures with capability studies, not eyeballs.
- You design mistake-proofing in rather than inspecting errors out.
- You revise fast when the product changes.
Bonus: Weld fixture design. GD&T depth. SolidWorks or Inventor. Lifting device design standards.
