About the role
Responsibilities
Own the vehicle platform end-to-end, including networking, time synchronization, sensor selection and drivers, middleware integration, embedded software, drive-by-wire, and low-level controls actuation.
Architect and deliver full-system platform capabilities spanning hardware and software, from 0→1 prototypes through reliable production systems deployed on heavy machinery.
Integrate cross-functional work into cohesive, product-ready platforms adapted to customer machines and use cases.
Interact directly with customers to identify target use cases, define platform requirements, and drive integrations through successful field deployment.
Lead and coordinate engineers by setting technical direction, prioritizing workstreams, and managing cross-functional dependencies.
Design and bring up test rigs and validation infrastructure for end-to-end system testing, hardware-in-the-loop verification, and on-vehicle validation.
Debug, test, and troubleshoot complex full-stack interactions, from sensor timing and network behavior to actuation and controls.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in robotics, systems integration, or platform software development, with technical leadership or tech lead experience.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Hands-on experience across the robotics platform stack, including sensors and drivers, networking and time synchronization, middleware, and embedded systems.
Strong C/C++ development experience on Linux, including debugging and testing complex real-time systems.
Experience with vehicle actuation and low-level controls, such as drive-by-wire systems and controller integration.
Strong understanding of electronic systems and how to set up, instrument, and debug them.
Ability to coordinate and prioritize across multiple engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver customer commitments.
Nice-to-haves
Experience with heavy machinery, off-road vehicles, agriculture, mining, or construction equipment.
Experience with CAN, J1939, LIN, Ethernet/TSN, PTP/gPTP, AUTOSAR, or related automotive and industrial communication technologies.
Experience taking robotic systems from prototype to production, including safety considerations, release processes, and CI/CD for embedded targets.
Customer-facing experience scoping, delivering, and supporting projects.
Firmware development experience or familiarity with microcontroller-based systems.
Experience with electrical or harness design, CAD/3D printing, PCB design, or adjacent skills.
Senior Systems Engineering Technician responsible for building, testing, and troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and water-cooled hardware systems in a prototype lab. Requires 5+ years hands-on multidisciplinary experience, independent work with incomplete documentation, and strong mechanical/electrical diagnostic skills.
