Senior Engineering Manager, Finance

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product and Design to shape product strategy and prioritize high-impact solutions.
• Improve team efficiency and engineering velocity while maintaining quality, maintainability, and reliability.
• Guide architecture and technical decisions, balancing trade-offs and anticipating future issues.
• Drive operational excellence across reliability, performance, cost-efficiency, design consistency, and maintainable code.
• Promote team engagement, employee happiness, continuous skill development, and professional growth.
• Mentor engineers, provide constructive feedback, and support direct reports.
• Perform hands-on technical work, including code reviews, debugging, and implementation.
• Participate in hiring and attract engineering talent.

Requirements

• 4+ years of engineering leadership experience, such as Engineering Manager or Tech Lead, in consumer-facing fintech, including 1+ year managing managers.
• 8+ years of experience in web systems development.
• Experience mentoring engineers, managing performance, and building highly motivated teams.
• Strong technical acumen, including architectural decision-making, technical debt management, and engineering standards.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to break down complex projects, anticipate risks, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.
• Recruiting experience and the ability to evaluate engineering candidates effectively.
• Collaborative, empathetic leadership style emphasizing humility, openness to feedback, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort in an early- to mid-stage startup environment.
• First-principles approach to evaluating problems, processes, and technical solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

• Indicative compensation range: $235,000–$250,000 plus equity.
