Junior Qualification & Safety Engineering Intern

Supports qualification planning, requirements extraction, documentation, and aircraft-level safety analyses for a hybrid VTOL aircraft program. The internship suits an engineering student with strong analytical fundamentals, documentation skills, and interest in aerospace certification and safety engineering.

Responsibilities

Qualification Support (approximately 50%)

  • Extract and organize requirements from standards and guidelines.
  • Support preparation of structured documentation packages for internal reviews.
  • Contribute to qualification planning activities under supervision.
  • Support DOA process mapping.
  • Create functional system models using model-based systems engineering tools.
  • Perform benchmark studies for competitors.

Safety Analysis Support (approximately 50%)

  • Support development and maintenance of aircraft hazard logs and risk classification tables.
  • Assist in structuring and updating FHA and FMEA analyses.
  • Support traceability between hazards, safety requirements, mitigations, and verification methods.
  • Prepare structured technical visualizations such as risk matrices and traceability diagrams.
  • Work closely with Safety and Qualification Engineers during development iterations.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor's or advanced degree program in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Good understanding of engineering fundamentals and structured problem-solving.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Ability to use model-based engineering tools, particularly Capella.
  • Ability to work effectively in analytical and documentation-focused assignments.
  • Experience working in relevant group projects or structured technical environments.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team member.
  • Interest in aircraft qualification processes and safety engineering.
