Director, Electrical Engineering

Leads electrical and power electronics architecture, integration, compliance, and deployment for automated hydrogen electrolyzer systems while managing a cross-functional engineering team. Requires 12+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in engineering management, and expertise in industrial power systems and hazardous environments.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end electrical architecture from the 480V grid tie-in through 12V/24V DC sensor networks, including power distribution, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Oversee AC/DC rectification for electrolyzer stacks, DC/DC converters, VFDs, and SCR controllers for heavy industrial loads.
  • Integrate hardware, controls, and software systems; define firmware requirements, state-machine logic, and communication protocols.
  • Lead electrical-system safety and compliance for hazardous environments, including Class I, Div 1/2 and ATEX locations.
  • Ensure adherence to NEC, UL, IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and related safety standards.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage power electronics, electrical, and controls engineers.
  • Manage suppliers, component vendors, and contract manufacturers for transformers, rectifiers, control panels, and other critical components.
  • Lead development schedules, budgets, prototyping, validation, design reviews, and commercial-scale deployment.
  • Support schematic design, PCB layout, simulation, hardware validation, manufacturing scale-up, and production environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in power electronics, industrial automation, or renewable energy systems.
  • 5+ years of direct engineering management experience leading cross-functional hardware or systems teams.
  • Expertise in 480V three-phase AC power distribution, AC/DC rectification, and isolation of low-voltage instrumentation networks from high-voltage noise.
  • Familiarity with PLC/PAC architectures and industrial fieldbus networks.
  • Working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70), UL 508A, and high-voltage safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and grounding/bonding.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD focused on power electronics, power systems, or control systems.
  • Experience in hydrogen infrastructure, electrochemistry, oil and gas, or large-scale energy storage.
  • Experience designing systems for hazardous locations and hydrogen gas environments.
  • Experience with thermal management of high-power electronics, including liquid and air cooling.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing scale-up and production in startup or high-growth technology environments.

Compensation

  • ₹6,000,000–₹9,000,000 annually.
