Responsibilities
- Develop and evolve PlanetScale’s visual brand across digital, print, experiential, and merchandise touchpoints.
- Create web graphics, technical diagrams, illustrations, interactive assets, campaign systems, product-launch creative, and marketing visuals.
- Design booth graphics, signage, environmental branding, banners, posters, stickers, promotional materials, and developer-focused merchandise for conferences and community events.
- Create website components, landing-page assets, data visualizations, social media graphics, blog imagery, and other digital marketing materials.
- Develop templates and design systems that help the team work efficiently.
- Collaborate with marketing and events leadership to create cohesive, memorable brand experiences.
- Explore new visual directions while maintaining brand coherence.
- Document design decisions and maintain brand guidelines.
- Manage multiple projects and competing deadlines while incorporating feedback and articulating design decisions.
Requirements
- Strong portfolio demonstrating versatile digital, print, and experiential design skills.
- Strong understanding of typography, color, composition, and visual hierarchy.
- Experience using AI effectively in a design workflow.
- Ability to work in both brand and production modes, from high-level concepts through detailed execution.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and self-direction skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience designing for technical or developer-focused brands.
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design tools.
- Experience using AI to create working first drafts of web pages.
- Understanding of design systems and component-based thinking.
- Interest in databases, infrastructure, and developer tools.
Compensation
- Base salary range: $170,000–$220,000 USD.
- Total compensation includes base salary, benefits, and equity.
