Builds and maintains test automation frameworks and infrastructure for web, commerce, identity, and distributed services. The role requires 4+ years of software engineering experience, strong programming skills, Playwright/Jest/API automation expertise, and CI/CD integration experience.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright, Python, Jest, and API automation.
- Develop end-to-end and integration tests for asynchronous, event-driven, eventually consistent, and distributed systems, including Temporal workflows.
- Support testing in production through canary deployments, progressive rollouts, synthetic monitoring, and automated rollback triggers.
- Automate testing for commerce and marketplace experiences, including offers, cashback, affiliate and attribution flows, click tracking, consent gates, persona-based experiences, and browser extensions.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions and develop reusable workflow components.
- Use AI tools for test authoring, test-plan generation, and code review.
- Collaborate with development teams on testable code structure, coverage gaps, and quality checks.
- Debug and root-cause issues across frontend, backend, APIs, and distributed services, driving fixes to completion.
- Define and track reliability metrics such as time to detect and time to remediate.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience in modern web applications and distributed systems, or 2+ years with a master's degree.
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright, Jest, and API automation.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions or ArgoCD.
- Experience testing e-commerce or marketplace experiences, including offers, cashback, affiliate and attribution flows, click tracking, consent gates, error states, and persona- or member-group-based coverage.
Nice-to-Haves
- Browser-extension or client-side commerce testing, including page objects, extension-context fixtures, HAR replay, network stubbing, and cross-browser testing.
- REST APIs, microservices, distributed and event-driven architectures, and workflow orchestration such as Temporal.
- Canary and phased rollouts, automated rollback, Pact contract testing, and performance or load testing with Locust, k6, or Gatling.
- Failure triage and flaky-test classification approaches.
- Java/Spring Boot or Ruby on Rails.
- Google Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, and Vault.
- Observability and chaos engineering.
- OAuth 2.0/OIDC, RBAC/ReBAC, tenant isolation, identity verification, KYC, and PII/compliance validation.
- Agentic tools for test generation, code review, and test planning.
- Strong root-cause analysis across frontend, backend, APIs, and distributed services.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary: $123,950–$154,000 USD.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits, life and disability insurance, 401(k) match, parental leave, paid time off, holidays, wellness and childcare discounts, pet insurance, and learning and development benefits.
