Sensor Validation Engineer

Leads validation and characterization of autonomous-vehicle sensors and improves synthetic sensor simulations through machine-learning and physical models. Requires a bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field, three years of experience, Python, Linux, sensor validation, and sensor-driver expertise.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Lead sensor validation and characterization for Sensor Simulation and Self-Driving System (SDS) products across automotive, trucking, and construction and mining industries.
  • Execute validation and characterization protocols for LiDAR, radar, camera, and ultrasonic sensors across diverse operating environments.
  • Improve synthetic simulation fidelity and accuracy by developing and refining machine learning and physical models of sensing systems, materials, and world environments.
  • Conduct physical sensor performance validation for SDS stacks, comparing physical hardware data against simulated models.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to connect physical sensor data with synthetic model development and support high-accuracy perception for autonomous vehicles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the offered role or a related occupation.
  • Experience using Python for data analysis, sensor-validation test-suite automation, and processing large-scale autonomous-vehicle sensor datasets.
  • Experience with sensor validation and characterization, including analysis of camera, LiDAR, or radar performance metrics under diverse environmental conditions.
  • Experience in a Linux/Unix environment, including command-line navigation, Bash shell scripting, and managing software dependencies for autonomous-system stacks.
  • Experience with sensor driver development, including using UDP architectures to parse and extract raw sensor data for performance analysis.
