Responsibilities
Cost of Revenue Accounting
Define cost of revenue classification methodology for hosting, infrastructure, and data provider costs.
Build and own the monthly cost accrual process, capturing vendor costs accurately at period-end.
Reconcile vendor invoices against internal usage data across 200+ data provider contracts.
Execute month-end close for cost of revenue, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner with Data Partnerships on vendor negotiations and contract structuring, considering accounting and cost impacts.
Partner with Revenue Accounting on revenue share treatments and contract modifications with cost implications.
Deliver a complete view of gross margin by connecting revenue and cost of revenue.
Systems and Audit Readiness
Apply AI and modern tooling to design scalable vendor reconciliation and cost accrual workflows.
Own cost of revenue readiness for the first external audit, including schedules, documentation, and auditor requests.
Shape how cost data flows from vendor invoice to the general ledger as volume grows.
Requirements
4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful exposure to revenue and cost accounting, vendor/AP management, or accrual accounting.
Big Four or public accounting experience is a plus.
Solid knowledge of US GAAP cost classification principles and accrual accounting.
Comfortable reconciling large, messy vendor invoice and usage datasets.
Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
Proven ability to build processes from scratch in a high-volume environment with variable contracts.
Nice to Have
Experience at a high-growth startup.
Experience managing or reconciling vendor costs in a usage-based or consumption-based business model.
Familiarity with vendor or procurement contract management tools.
Active CPA.
Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude or Cursor to automate processes or tasks.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $130,000–$160,000.
