About the role

Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

  • Own the monthly close end-to-end, including journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, and reporting.
  • Drive finance transformation and automation initiatives across the function.
  • Support audit readiness as a key point of contact for external auditors, including exploring real-time audit tooling using AI.

Finance Systems

  • Own the ERP and connected finance systems, including payroll, expense, equity, and billing platforms.
  • Manage integrations, data pipelines, and ongoing implementation efforts.
  • Evaluate and onboard new finance tooling.
  • Maintain system documentation and segregation-of-duties controls as the stack scales.

Automation and AI

  • Build AI-powered workflows using tools such as Claude and Cursor to automate reconciliations, variance analysis, and close tasks.
  • Write SQL to extract and validate data across systems.
  • Eliminate repetitive accounting work and build dashboards for real-time financial visibility, with the goal of shortening the close each quarter.

Cross-Functional Special Projects

  • Partner with GTM, Product, and Operations on finance-adjacent projects.
  • Support FP&A with data infrastructure and modeling.
  • Act as the accounting team's connector to the broader organization and help shape how the function grows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and high-growth startup exposure.
  • Hands-on operational accounting experience owning a close, managing reconciliations, and working with messy real-world data.
  • Experience implementing or administering a finance system or ERP.
  • Proficiency in SQL, including querying large datasets, writing joins, and independently debugging data issues.
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar to improve accounting or finance work.

Nice-to-Haves

  • CPA license or active pursuit of a CPA license.
  • Familiarity with billing and revenue platforms, including Stripe, CPQ, and metering platforms, and their accounting integrations.
  • Experience building or contributing to financial data models, dashboards, or BI tooling.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $130,000–$160,000.
