Responsibilities
- Own the roadmap for a core area of the Viam platform from problem definition through launch, adoption, and deprecation.
- Shape product strategy around developer adoption, bottlenecks, and platform experiences.
- Define how physical AI and robotics trends affect software-engineer engagement.
- Partner with engineering leads on platform architecture decisions, including core functionality, the registry, and SDKs.
- Take new capabilities from 0 to 1 through customer deployments.
- Own developer experience, including SDK ergonomics, API surface, documentation, and onboarding.
- Define success metrics around developer adoption and second activations.
- Incorporate customer and Forward Deployed engineer feedback into the roadmap.
- Build and evolve the product practice.
Requirements
- Experience as a software engineer building and shipping production software used by real users.
- 8+ years of product management experience.
- Experience building developer-facing or infrastructure products such as APIs, SDKs, or platforms.
- Track record taking products from ambiguity to production, including migrations, deprecations, and breaking changes.
- Technical credibility with engineers, including the ability to run an SDK, read code, and participate in design reviews.
- Ability to conduct market research, develop product strategy, and work directly with users.
- Comfort defining success metrics and using data to guide prioritization.
- Ability to work quickly, make decisions with incomplete information, and adapt to changing evidence.
- Experience working with senior leadership and setting direction.
- Hands-on interest in hardware, IoT, embedded systems, or related physical systems.

- Base salary: $180,000–$240,000 per year.
