Senior Network Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, operate, and troubleshoot MongoDB’s global network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, access points, IoT sensors, and VPN solutions.
• Lead the rollout and ongoing management of Palo Alto Prisma Access as the company’s SASE platform.
• Administer network authentication, including RADIUS implementations using EAP-TLS, PAP, RadSec, and MAC Authentication.
• Implement and improve network security controls, including VLANs, firewall rules, DNS, DHCP, and IDS/IPS.
• Design and deploy infrastructure for global office sites in partnership with Real Estate, Workplace, AV, and Physical Security teams.
• Serve as an L3 escalation point for complex network issues.
• Build automation to reduce manual operations and improve reliability and observability.
• Manage technical relationships with ISPs, hardware, cabling, and other network vendors.
• Mentor network and systems engineers and communicate network strategy, risks, and incidents to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Maintain network documentation, automation, change management, and fault-tolerant, secure, scalable operations.
• Travel and work across multiple time zones as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of experience in network or systems engineering.
• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including the OSI model, routing, switching, IP subnetting, cabling, and wireless.
• Experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting highly available global network infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki and HPE Aruba platforms.
• Experience managing VPN and secure access solutions, including Palo Alto Prisma Access, Cloudflare IPsec/L2TP, and Cisco Secure Client/AnyConnect.
• Experience with network authentication technologies such as Foxpass, LDAP, Okta, and SAML.
• Understanding of enterprise network design and cloud networking best practices.
• Experience partnering with InfoSec, Physical Security, and Workplace teams.
• Scripting skills for network automation using infrastructure as code.
• Excellent communication and technical documentation skills, including rack elevations, patching matrices, and Layer 2/Layer 3 network topologies.

Nice-to-Haves

• CCNA, CCNP, Meraki Solutions Specialist, or equivalent networking certification.
• Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure and hybrid network architectures.
• Experience mentoring network or systems engineers.
• Familiarity with JAMF and Workspace ONE/AirWatch.
• Experience working directly with ISPs and external vendors on complex connectivity issues.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary range: $118,000–$231,000.
