Front End Software Engineer, Media Player

Responsibilities
- Build the next generation of Reddit’s web media experience, focusing on video and audio delivery.
- Define and implement technical components for the web media player and its APIs.
- Work cross-functionally with product, design, client engineering, and platform engineering teams.
- Contribute to the full development lifecycle, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
- Design and implement end-to-end solutions, optimizing React and TypeScript web UI components and Go and Python backend APIs.
- Improve media performance and playback experiences globally.
- Review code, design documents, product specifications, and mocks.
- Establish developer workflow standards, recommend best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages.
- Experience with Go, Python, Rust, or Ruby.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Experience translating complex UI/UX designs into scalable web applications.
- Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, and basic Thrift.
- Ability to design and implement maintainable APIs.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: $165,000–$229,000 USD.
- Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units; select positions may also be eligible for commission.
