Software engineer responsible for improving credit-card transaction authorization, reducing customer friction, and building proactive fraud and risk controls. Requires 4+ years of professional coding experience, strong product sense, and hands-on transaction-data investigation.

Responsibilities
- Improve the card transaction experience by identifying and eliminating causes of declines, failed authorizations, stuck holds, and other spending friction.
- Identify product issues in the card program, propose fixes, and ship improvements.
- Detect and investigate fraud and abuse patterns, including card testing, cashback farming, merchant abuse, friendly fraud, trial and force-post abuse, and multi-account rings.
- Own fraud rules, queues, scoring logic, monitoring, alerting, and automated mitigation in Sardine.
- Investigate live cases by querying transaction data, identifying root causes, and developing controls to prevent recurrence.
- Build internal tools, dashboards, and scripts for risk and customer experience teams.
- Collaborate with Product, Customer Experience, Compliance, card-program partners, and fraud vendors.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional coding experience shipping products.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
- Product sense and focus on improving customer outcomes.
- Ability to query and analyze transaction data independently.
- Genuine interest in adversarial problems and fraud-pattern detection.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience at a fintech, neobank, card issuer, or issuer processor.
- Experience with card issuing or card transaction processors.
- Knowledge of card and payment fraud mechanics, including card testing, BIN attacks, friendly fraud, merchant collusion, and cashback farming.
- Experience building on fraud decisioning or transaction monitoring platforms.
- Experience conducting fraud investigations or disputes.
