Software Engineer III
Build and scale Ruby on Rails backend services for rewards, incentives, and loyalty features in a high-throughput platform. The role owns complex feature delivery, contributes to architecture, mentors junior engineers, and requires 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Responsibilities
- Own feature development end-to-end, from technical design through delivery.
- Break complex projects into well-scoped, deliverable pieces.
- Write idiomatic, performant, well-tested Ruby code.
- Contribute to architectural decisions involving data modeling, service boundaries, API design, and background processing.
- Improve code quality, performance, reliability, and developer experience.
- Guide junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design feedback.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA.
- Participate in on-call rotation, incident response, root-cause analysis, and systemic improvements.
- Document technical decisions, data models, and service patterns.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful Ruby on Rails development.
- Experience delivering complex features and translating ambiguous requirements into technical plans.
- Exposure to large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems.
- Advanced Ruby on Rails proficiency.
- Strong PostgreSQL skills, including schema design, query optimization, migrations, and performance analysis.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs in Rails.
- Solid testing practices with RSpec or Minitest, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Familiarity with background job processing such as Sidekiq.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
- Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively in a remote environment.

- Experience using AI-assisted development and agentic coding tools.
- Experience working in a remote engineering organization.
- Experience with event-driven architecture.
Compensation and Benefits
- Typical salary range: $145,000–$165,000.
