Backend Engineer, Flag Delivery

Responsibilities

• Build, ship, and operate features and services in Flag Delivery's streaming and polling infrastructure.
• Own well-scoped projects end to end, including design, implementation, rollout, and ongoing operations.
• Investigate and fix production issues, participating in the team's on-call rotation with support.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code and design reviews.
• Improve the observability and reliability of owned code.
• Collaborate with SDK Engineering, Data Platform, and product-engineering teams on cross-functional work.
• Develop depth in distributed systems and production operations with mentorship from senior engineers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software-engineering experience building production services.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language, such as Go, Rust, Python, or Java.
• Familiarity with a cloud platform, such as AWS or an equivalent.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, concurrency, API design, and testing.
• Experience debugging production problems and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
• Working familiarity with observability tooling and the ability to read dashboards, logs, and traces.
• Ability to break down ambiguous tasks, ask effective questions, and drive work to completion.
• Clear written and verbal communication and interest in learning from feedback.

Compensation and Benefits

• Zone 1: $171,200 - $235,400.
• Zone 2: $154,100 - $211,860.
• Zone 3: $145,500 - $200,090.
• Compensation varies based on skills, experience, and location.
